I looked at these quickly.  Nothing obvious to fix the problems.
Is it true that you also:

1. Cannot resize the window.

2.  There is no box along the bottom of the window.

3. ctrl-a and ctrl-g work, i.e. ctrl-g toggles the grid lines.
