What about a development model like Fedora ? That is, short term releases and
incremental goals, in the spirit of 'Release early, release often'. Then
have working groups about specific aspects: user interface and GUI,
producing better quality graphs, make the base code as robust as possible,
parallelism, multi-threading, distributed/cloud computing, ...
On a side note, there is another community wich produced a MatLab clone: see
http://freemat.sourceforge.net. They seems to have interesting concepts, and
it also appears that their release rate is about one release over one and a
half year. Small community, should we invite them to join us ?
