I very much agree here. Doubling memory consumption halves the
usefulness of Octave. Octave is itself fairly memory-intensive as it is
a vectorised language, meaning you end up storing many large temporary
variables in memory. Halving the amount of available memory is certain
doom for a language like Octave.
