Octave 3.6.4 SUSE SLE 11 gcc version

Hi,

Does anyone know what version of gcc was used to compile Octave 3.6.4 included in the science repository for SUSE SLE11 SP2?  If I run "mkoctfile -p CXX" it returns "g++" with no version number.  I'm trying to figure out which version of gcc I need to compile oct files in this distribution.
