Hi! Great idea develop a "online" octave :)
What do you think about use a Named Pipe as input/output for Octave?
Then, Octave's answer should be redirected to an output pipe, being available to your application (like a PHP web application, I suppose).
The main idea was described in this post, by John W. Eaton:

Reading the thread, this approach seems to work..
