Is this still a problem for you? I just cloned Octave including the gnulib subrepo from Europe/Germany without trouble.

Nope; it's working for me now. Thanks to whoever or whatever got this fixed.

This is blocking testing the mkfifo fixes for me. I'll try again later tonight.
