Details:

This seems to affect only KDE users, as under other platforms the Qt
QFileDialog is used instead.

I am not sure if it affects all versions of KDE, mine is 4.8.5 together with
Qt 4.8.4. There is a long discussion about what seems to be a similar problem
on the following thread:

"https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260719";

My solution was to disable KDE native KFileDialog and stick to Qt one.
