Follow-up Comment #2, patch #8242 (project octave):

I will go take a look at bug #40636. I had noticed that when I was adding the
functionality that there are TODO's in the code to implement the hidden file
feature, but that it currently is not implemented. I suppose we should either
add it for the release or take the option out completely to avoid user
confusion.
