Follow-up Comment #21, patch #8783 (project octave): I gave it a try, separately mkoctfile-ing textscan.cc / textscan.h. But it errorred out due to several include files not being referenced (or not in the right order?). To be able to build textscan.oct using mkoctfile is something that can be prepared on the Linux side. Just put textscan.cc/textscan.h in some subdir, navigate there from within Octave an give it a go.
