Pantxo, thank you for your tests.
I am a little bit puzzled why they did not trigger the calculation of any of
the two types of normals.
I mis-understood your previous comment #8 in that "flat" would trigger the
calculation of both normal types. After your comment #10, I forgot to update
the tests.
Do I understand correctly that Matlab only triggers the calculation of
FaceNormals if the patches have polygons with more than 3 corners?
Deprecating NormalMode and introducing FaceNormals and the respective *Modes
was done in bug #47791. (Thank you for pushing that one.) Octave and Matlab
seem to be behave quite similar wrt this now.
I will try and see whether I can get purchased a newer Matlab version so that
I do not have to steal so much of your time.
