Follow-up Comment #4, patch #9709 (project octave):

mapping depends on geometry.
JuanPi (geometry package maintainer) and I cooperated to get geometry out but
then he ran into issues with the external matgeom package. I think those are
solved now. As soon as geometry is out I'll start making a new mapping
release.

So, hopefully by the end of this year I hope to have mapping-1.4.0 out.
