Follow-up Comment #3, patch #7521 (project octave):

Reviewing old patches ahead of the 6.1 release.  This would be a nice feature,
but the patch does not apply cleanly to the current code.  This isn't
surprising since it failed to apply back in 2011, and it is now 9 years
later.

Absent a new patch, I think this will need to be closed as there is no one who
has enough time to work on bringing this up to the present.
