Follow-up Comment #3, patch #9974 (project octave):

Maybe we could return an extra output arg, similar to gcxgc.m, indicating
conditions of the intersection points, a la:
* 0: intersecting circles with two distinct intersection points
* 1: coinciding circles (NaNs returned)
* 2: tangent circles, just one intersection point returned as duplicates
* -1 or 3: small circles too far apart, no intersections, NaNs returned.

What do you think?
If it's too difficult I could give it a try once you've solved the other
issues in scxsc.m mentioned in comment #2.
