Follow-up Comment #2, patch #10323 (project octave):

Thank you very much for looking into implementing this feature.

The existing patch in patch #8607 seems to be more complete though. And the
patch here doesn't integrate into the core library and the other functions
either. So, I'm more inclined to continue working on patch #8607 than on this
one here.
I hope that doesn't mean that too much of your time has been wasted on this
implementation. Please, feel free to share your thoughts on the other patch.

If no one opposes, I'd like to close this report to concentrate on only one
implementation of this feature.
