It seems to be related to the buffer size. I switched the ALSA output 
plugin in XMMS down to a 400ms buffer from 800 and now I get channel 
swapping all the time. Though it still seems to happen even more often 
with MODs than mp3s. Period time is 50ms and mmap mode is enabled, what 
do these do and are these good settings? I'm not understanding how ALSA 
handles mmap-ing...

I'm pulling the latest CVS now and will test it out...
