I didn't get nearly as much time as I would have hoped, but i did try
and do a quick look over, the indenting changes made it tough though...

are you running lindent? afaik now kernel style tends to be:

        static void blah()

instead of

        static void
        blah()

but whatever, lets just try and get this driver in...

-       /* Mute input. Avoid crackling? */
+       /* Mute input. Astatic void crackling? */
