[Openvortex-dev] distorted volume level in latest patch?

I was using the drivers supplied with alsa but after applying the latest patch 
(tried one of Manuel's patches in January I believe) but I am having problems 
which are most apparent when playing songs with a lot bass. It sounds really 
distorted. Like playing music too loud on cheap boxes or setting the pre-amp 
on xmms/winamp too high. 

The sound level of the patched driver is much higher with the same settings as 
the alsa driver (disabled EQ on both, vol 100, pcm 100 ect.). Any idea where 
the problem may be?
