He's probably referring to a global "delete old articles" setting; I
recall using other newsreaders that had a setting like this.
Mike, in Pan you can do this sort of thing with a filter. Make a rule
to delete articles older than X days, and make a filter that applies it.
You can pick which newsgroups it applies to. For instance, I have two
"age" filters -- one for binary groups which expire quickly, and another
for text groups which keep articles on the server longer.
You can be flexible with these -- using AND and OR filters, you can
have
rules that "Delete articles older than one week which I haven't read", or
"Delete articles older than two days, but only if I *have* read them." I
find these filters much more useful than a global setting. :)
