I suspect it's a problem between the freetype that comes with X and pango
or something.
during linking:
/usr/local/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: undefined reference to `FT_Seek_Stream'
/usr/local/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: undefined reference to `FT_Get_Short'
/usr/local/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: undefined reference to
`FT_Forget_Frame'
/usr/local/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: undefined reference to
`FT_Access_Frame'
/usr/local/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: undefined reference to `FT_Get_Long'

any ideas on how to straighten this out, I have already tried installing
the newest freetype2 libs and removing other stuff, I think I just boned
everything up though maybe. I also tried recompiling pango, doesn't make
any new versions of libpangoxft-1.0.so not sure how to force this either
which I guess isn't really a pan issue.
