I see this sort of thing too but 500,000 is a lot of headers!  :) Maybe
you would be better off to sample a portion of it.  I've never used
windoze newsreaders for binary groups but I'd be interested to know if
newsreaders like Xnews and Agent handle huge numbers of headers faster?
