yeah, I was a pretty vocal detractor of yenc when it first appeared because it
seemed like yet another "l33t format of the month", but I'm totally floored
by how quickly it became the de facto standard in large binary groups.
People howled when MIME started becoming prevalent (because newsreaders like
Agent took months or years to add support for it) and people are howling now.
No biggie.
I think that newsreaders unilaterally changing the MIME spec will cause more
actual trouble and not relieve all the "WHY CANT I DWONLOAD UR P0ST" crap
since any newsreader that won't support yenc sure won't support yenc
encapsulated in MIME.
That, and I don't think too many people are using PAN to post binaries ;)
