Right, just done this test in the rpm build directory:

address@hidden pcre-4.4]$ make check
./RunTest
Testing main functionality (Perl compatible)

Testing API and error handling (not Perl compatible)

The two main tests ran OK

Cannot test locale-specific features - 'fr' locale not found,
or the "locale" command is not available to check for it.

Testing UTF-8 support (Perl compatible)
UTF8 test ran OK

Testing API and internals for UTF-8 support (not Perl compatible)
UTF8 internals test ran OK

It says that UTF-8 support is compiled in and is working fine.

As usual, Pan was installed using checkinstall, rpm -ql pcre gives:

/lib/libpcre.so.0
/lib/libpcre.so.0.0.1
/usr/bin/pcregrep
/usr/bin/pcretest
/usr/lib/libpcreposix.so.0
/usr/lib/libpcreposix.so.0.0.0
/usr/share/man/man1/pcregrep.1.gz
/usr/share/man/man1/pcretest.1.gz

Is there a way of checking the list of API calls in libpcre and
libpcreposix? If there is I forget how.
