[Pan-users] crash, debug build, etc.

Since I need to report a crash, I need to get a gdb stack trace. That means I need to compile with debug (with symbols). How do I do that? I tried configure --help, but did not see anything about debug. I did try running the normal build I have under gdb and when I did a bt at the point of the seg fault, I got:

and then thousands of lines like #7-#11, making it look like some sort of runaway recursion. I never got to the point in pan triggering this. Any advice would be appreciated. Again, this is triggered by clicking on the "twisty" for "Other Groups" after pan has retrieved the group list from the server.
