I'm glad you mentioned that -- I moved my ~/.pan2 directory out of the
way and started from scratch.  Now the abort problem is gone, so the
problem must be something corrupted in ~/.pan2 I would guess.

I'll poke around and try comparing files between the new and old .pan2
directory.
