I've never actually tried this, and if you are running netfilter or the 
like you'll likely need to adjust filters, but I've been /told/ that the 
entire 127/8 subnet is reserved/localhost.  IOW, 127.0.0.2, 127.0.0.3... 
127.255.255.254 should all work if the RFC implementation is correct.

Something to keep in mind when setting up filters, too, obviously.
