Hi all,

While PPRZ supports pantilt platforms for video cameras, I wanted to be able to do straight down pitch/roll and image(internal to camera) stabilized shots with my canon SD-800, I found myself unwilling to open it up for direct interface to the circuits within and unwilling to accept servo activation of the shutter.

Thus I found myself looking at libptp and the functionality for thew digic II and digic III(sd800 uses the latter) to support fuller libptp functionality(ie complete control of the camera as a computer usb peripheal).

while Canon does NOT support the remote shutter in their firmware load it is on the digic III chip awaiting usage it seems
and the folks at http://chdk.wikia.com have down just that PLUS a LOT more.

~ I now have reloaded the firmware on my canon and am experimenting with a greatly increased functionality and script execution on top of that, the downside is the camera battery appears to be depleting faster(code + the eye-fi/wifi card(latter wont be used in flight) even on the new firmware alone(and still have to figure out how to make the new firmware autoload from the SD card at power-on.

And I have temporarily made my 4gb card nonfunctional :((bad belkin sd adapter)

I now have to fabricate a canon viewfinder compatible AV/out to rangevideo 900MHZ cable and decase a 4port usb hub , as I have a Verdex Gumstix(with bluetooth and wifi(for mission profiles)) on board and have plans on chatting with the pprz tiny board, an EVDO USB modem and the Canon SD800-CHDK as an alternative to using xstream or xbee PRO(but xbee pro WILL be on board).

Hopefully adding functionality to paparazzi for straight down camera stabilization wont be so bad(next on my agenda).

~ will add this to the wiki when I get time
~ gwen
