I thought about doing this before, the problem is the wind speed is often in
the same range as the flight speed itself, which means the difference between
flying with the wind and against the wind is just enormous if you measure the
speed over ground with the GPS.
I started building a Pitot based on a freescale differential pressure sensor
and an Opamp to scale the range I need over the ADC range. It works on my
table, but It'll take some time before I bring to fly.
