Hi all,We have enough Ocaml users at Enac for the support/bug fix of the GCS and the other paparazzi agents, and we will do it, you don't have to worry about that. Of course, we would be very pleased if other people from the community tried to learn Ocaml to help on the improvement of the ground segment. But as Poine recalled, the programming language of the GCS is independent of the rest of the system. Pascal and I gave to our student a project for the design of a new GCS in Java. It is only a backbone, but I can share the code with the community if the result is satisfying. It will probably take years before having a GCS as operational as Pascal's, so I don't think we should hurry.

Well, My first reaction is that it is a common mistake to think that because something looks a bit difficult to understand at first sight, it is a reason to redo it from start differently. Sometime it is...and sometime it isn't... Ocaml seems to be relatively widely used in France for education, research and...aeronautical stuff... So before we trash everything that was done so far, it would be a good idea to wait a little to know if someone will continue developping and maintaining the gcs in ocaml (someone from the ENAC or someone on the list). I am very happy with the way the gcs is working so far and I see no reason for changing it unless there is really none taking care of the code or at least understanding it... Do I want to learn ocaml ? ...hum that is a good question that I leave open ;-) _______________________________________________ Paparazzi-devel mailing list address@hidden http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/paparazzi-devel
