they are selling the HMC5843 still. If you buy 5 or more you pay around 15€. Not sure if it works for private customers, but you could try i guess.

unfortunately my German provider lipoly.de doesn't list the HMC5843 
anymore. Can someone in this list provide me one or two units for a 
reasonable price? Otherwise I would have to disassemble a breakout board 
or modify my PSB layout...

By the way, what is your experience with this magnetometer? I had a bad one
at low temperatures (under 2?C), and I had to solder a
"super-special-spacial" pump capacitor (with low ESR capacitor at low
temperatures). Also, I had issues about biases (even being calibrated since
last time) every time I have powered it up.
