I retested the revised exif code at the standard flight location, which resulted in this hopefully correct output. It certainly resonates with that reported from the ublox6 unit attached to an ardrone2 airframe. I am at a loss to reconcile the bebop GPS altitude above msl reading. Is it a quantifiable difference that can be adjusted in the flight plan? Nonetheless, thank you very much for the time you expended getting this right.

I solved the altitude_ref error msg in master.

The GPS does not give altitude abbve STRM (ground). It always computes altitude above ellipsoid and most often also geoid (MSL) with a good earth model. The latter is now added to the pictures.

A break in the weather gave me the chance to undertake a stationary exif code (latest master version) test at a different location. Here is the image properties output for a single shot photo. The altitude compares well with the bebop GCS alt read out. Obviously there is a discrepancy between the SRTM elevation and the bebop gps recorded alt.
 
From memory this is not the case with the ardrone2 ublox GPS.

Thank you. I will test, weather permitting. I too do not have a compile error after instituting the latest exif code changes. I certainly must have caused the previous issue without noticing – sorry about that.

I looked at the documentation of EXIF and the altitude should be above mean sea level. At this time I was filling altitude above ellipsoid. I also added the code for negative altitudes while I had the docs open.
 
I do not understand your compile problem. I can not reproduce, and I have a different version as well. The code in the pull request is version v5.7-devel-471 now and compiles fine for me.
 
@flixr does state.h have a way to get AMSL?

It may be relevant that I retrieved the altitude and location exif jpeg data from a stationary (motors off) srtm 50 metres elevation.
It was too windy, but nevertheless not raining at the time.

First, thank you very much, it worked, apart from a small compile issue with the new exif_alt code.
 
Reverting to the original IMAV2015 alt_code and the latest location revisions,

I have tried int versus uinit and SRational for lat. with no change. 
 
Nonetheless, I appreciate your effort, but I think Felix maybe right about exif not being able to resolve negative values.
 
I am prepared to try any changes, but it is difficult at this time of year with wind - http://www.metservice.com/marine-surf/recreational-marine/wellington 
 
I will update my repo and test as soon as possible.

In respect of the EXIF module and the IMAV 2015 flight plan procedure, the pleasure has been all mine. Enac’s IMAV 2014 flight plan and now TU Delft’s offer great insight into the extensive possibilities of Paparazzi NAV mode flight. I thank all concerned, even Parrot for the platform.
