[Phpgroupware-users] can't access email

Hi group,

I'm a newbie at phpgrouware.  I installed the application and I can't get the 
email 
client to connect to my email server. I've read the archives of the mailing 
list and 
it looks like nothing works.

1- register_globals in php.ini is set to ON,
2- I'm not using localhost.  I actually tried both the host name and the IP 
address 
and no luck.

from the email client, here is the error I'm getting

Warning: Couldn't open stream {:143}INBOX 
in /usr/local/phpgroupware/email/inc/class.mail_dcom_imap.inc.php on line 214

detected that there has already been an attempting to recover that failed
exiting...

also from FelaMiMail I get the error:  The connection to the IMAP Server 
failed!!


INFO:

1-  I'm using RedHat 8.0
2-  postgresql 7.3
3-  php 4.2.2

pls advise
