I could well believe it's the ISP's setup of PHP, but any clues?

It's the memory_limit parameter in php.ini, so yes it's the ISP's setup, but
16 Mb is generally sufficient (on my setup it is), so it's strange that you
have this problem.

Maybe a particularly large base of contacts, or a contact with lots of
informations on it causes this problem ?

It seems to be happening with all contacts. I've about 380-400, I wouldn't think that too large?
