This is a good idea.
I suggest that we immediately increment the version number in CVS, so
that when we get bug reports about "version 0.4.2" we know from whence
they came.

I quickly received two votes for "yes" on this in private email,
so I uploaded a distribution generated from current CVS to
alpha.gnu.org. It should be visible within an hour.
