Hi Steve,
thanks for the bug report and your patch. From my point of view this is a bug
in the compiler if the test suite does not pass on the ppc64el architecture
with -O3 optimization settings on Ubuntu. However, the problem seems still to
be there when 1.2.0-4 was compiled on 22nd of May:

pspp still fails on ppc64el and riscv64 on ubuntu without the patch, i.e. with
-O3, while it works on Debian:

I think I will include your patch.
