OK Thanks goes out to  Aleksander for fixing the ppa for ubuntu so that the program installs properly now.
I'm running into the sound delay problem and have tried running the command listed on the site...

psynth3d -o alsa --alsa-device hw:0,0

I'm still getting the delay though.
running aplay -l in Terminal shows that card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC1200 Analog [ALC1200 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 is the device being used which is normal, but the delay persists.

This program is still fun despite the delay so I'll keep tinkering.
