So this patch seems to break my Debian squeeze image with -M g3beige.

  $ ./ppc64-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc64 -vnc :3 -snapshot -M g3beige 
debian_squeeze_powerpc_standard.qcow2 -serial mon:stdio

I'll remove it from my queue for now.
