OK…I am confused…looks like the error ““Not a bootable ELF image” is wrong..
The VM booted up and I could log into the console…but I did not see any boot messages ..except the error above..and then a login prompt.
Is this expected???

OK this is dump of qemu-img info for the qcow2 disk image I am using. It looks Ok…but still I get the same “Not a bootable ELF image” image.
Can someone please point to any other image that will work or tell me what’s wrong with this image.

Subject: standard test image not booting with qemu-system-ppc
Hi ,
I downloaded the latest qemu source from git and compiled it on my centos 6.5 machine.
According to the following e-mail from this mailing list I tried the following
Test case: download the squeeze standard image from
and run with
qemu-system-ppc -hda debian_squeeze_powerpc_standard.qcow2
but I get following error
VNC server running on `::1:5900'

>> CPU type PowerPC,750
>> Not a bootable ELF image
qemu: terminating on signal 2

also please note that my qemu-system-ppc is latest, as its built from source.
address@hidden:~:117#qemu-system-ppc -version
