Follow-up Comment #2:
This is not an rdiff-backup bug. Rdiff-backup has been successfully tested
using Python 2.5.1 and BSD. Also, that is not an error message that any
rdiff-backup code produces directly.
There is a problem with your rdiff-backup installation or Python
installation. I am closing this bug report. If Googling does not produce the
answer, I suggest contacting a Python users mailing list, FreeBSD users
mailing list, or the rdiff-backup users mailing list.
Perhaps your old rdiff-backup install still exists somewhere. I suggest
searching through the various Python site-packages directories.
