Follow-up Comment #1, bug #27729 (project rdiff-backup):
I got a few details wrong. I think I managed to do the "chmod g+r,g+w" on a
different client, but it's not working here. I worked around it by deleting
the /usr/lib/ssl/private symlink. So maybe it's something to do with
symlinks.
If you want to duplicate the problem, set up an Ubuntu Jaunty server (9.04)
and install the package "openssl", then back it up using rdiff-backup 1.2.8 on
client and server. Make sure you are running your backups on the backup server
as non-root! I have reproduced this twice across separate hosts with these
conditions.
