Details:
The Windows build provided on the download page doesn't include the PyWin32
modules which support Windows ACLs. (These modules are: win32file,
win32security, pywintypes, win32api, win32con.) Following some instructions
I'd found on the mailing list
(http://www.mail-archive.com/address@hidden/msg04090.html),
which *almost* worked for me out-of-the-box, I re-ran the final "setup.py
py2exe --single-file" step with an additional -i argument specifying the above
modules, and the resultant monolithic executable will indeed back up Windows
ACLs.
I would attach it here, but for filesize restrictions.
