I looks like it works to me:
$ cvs -d:pserver:address@hidden:/sources/emacs co emacs
cvs checkout: Updating emacs

$ nc -v cvs.sv.gnu.org 2401

Note that the CVS pserver lies in the vcs-noshell DomU.
