I presume that should be a safe place to have an unencrypted ssh private key? I wouldn't (and haven't) thought twice about having private keys on fencepost, for precisely the reason of ssh to savannah. I just don't use that key for anything else. As you say, there is no feasible alternative (that I know of). --thanks, karl.
