A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Hamish Moffatt <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Freetrack satellite tracker
System name: freetrack
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
I intend to develop a free satellite tracker program. These are commonly
used by amateur radio operators to locate amateur satellites, and also
by weather satellite enthusiasts. The tracker program models the
orbit of a satellite and gives information about its current position
and where to point antennas or telescopes etc. It could even control
computer-controlled antenna rotators and control radio equipment to
perform Doppler frequency correction to adjust for the movement of
the satellite.
There are quite a few of these programs already (some under free licenses)
but some of the user interfaces aren\'t very good. My favourite interface is
one called \'sattrack\' , but it\'s non-free and a bit buggy, but can\'t
really be fixed due to the license.
There are some users on the address@hidden mailing list
who will assist with the project, or with testing at least.
The project doesn\'t exist yet, I\'m just starting to think about it.
By the way I am also a Debian GNU/Linux developer.
