A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Wolfgang Scherr <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: MJPEG ISA/HARDWARE DRIVERS
System name: mjpeg-isa
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
The project is about LINUX drivers (and tools) for MJPEG ISA video grabber
cards. Maybe others can be added later, if available/needed.
Currently following cards should be included:
ASPRO Invader ISA
MIRO video DC1(plus) ISA
Invader:
It contains the needed driver modules (currently compatible to kernel 2.4.x -
tested only there) plus some modified versions of lavreg/play (derivated from
very old versions available on MJPEG square: mjpeg.sourceforge.net). Additional
a test program using JAVA2 v1.3 is included and a new program called lavsnap,
allowing cyclic video input capturing.
It supports the new i2c layer and v4l; it introduces additional a new universal
videocodec layer to the MJPEG hardware. It is (hopefully) written in the new
coding style required. (8 space indents etc.)
DC1:
It contains the driver modules for kernel 2.2.x and lower. Porting and
modularizing of the driver is still needed, at least the above project was the
trigger to polish this one a litte bit up...
The drivers are written from scratch completely, to avoid legal problems; and
they are independently written from the hardware vendors ASPRO and MIRO
(Pinnacle).
The Invader driver was made for SCATI LABS (www.scati.com) but should now be
released under the GPL. Savannah should therefore be used as a central CVS
repository for me and for this company. Of course, any additional help is
appreciated for improving of the driver (e.g. overlay support is missing).
