Could there be a lock in the Attic folder? I have already 
tried your suggestion, it didn't work, but i will try it 
again.

We know. I'm sorry but your case has us really puzzled. We
checked carefully the lock directory and we cannot find any
locks. I'll keep trying to find the source of this weird
behaviour, but in the meantime you could try making a fresh
new local copy of the repository, move the new version of
the file you want to commit there, and try to commmit it (I
know your repository is very large, but you can try this
just within the subdirectory in question).
