FYI, I expect that FreeBSD will switch to ocaml 3.11 soon. The FreeBSD
ocaml maintainer is still working on some ports that work fine with
3.10 and won't build with 3.11, but most stuff works fine. However,
I don't know if this switch will happen before the FreeBSD 7.2 release.

Several projects using ocaml have dropped support for ocaml 3.10 in new
releases already and rely on new 3.11 features. Also (unfortunately) the
ocaml developers don't seem very interested in backwards compatability
and supporting code written for 3.10 in their new releases.

For SKS: it would certainly be nice if the new release would work with
both 3.10 and 3.11. But I wouldn't hang on to 3.10 support too tightly
if it proves problematic. Even if this means that some distributions
won't be able to upgrade to the newest SKS release right away - or they
will have to add custom patches to make it work (as Phil suggested).

My 2ct,
Johan
