[Sks-devel] SKS 1 minute timeouts

Hello all,

Having just upgraded pgp.mit.edu to SKS, I've been paying closer than
usual attention to it and, at least my nagios installation, has seen
some problems. Those problems seem to correlate with 1 minute empty
spaces in db.log. Sometimes they include log messages about timeouts,
eg:

>> 2009-07-07 14:17:31 /pks/lookup: Index request: (0x3f3e6426)
>> 2009-07-07 14:18:31 request (GET,/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0x3F3E6426,[
>> accept:*/*
>> accept-encoding:gzip, deflate
>> accept-language:en-us
>> connection:Keep-Alive
>> host:pgp.mit.edu:11371
>> user-agent:Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1;
>> Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; .NET CLR 1.0.3705;
>> .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 3.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)]) timed out
>> 2009-07-07 14:18:33 <webserver> callback timed out.

Sometimes there will be another error (without the "callback timed
out" line):

>> user-agent:Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp/3.0;
>> http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp)]): Sys_error("Broken pipe")

or

>> user-agent:Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0b; Windows NT 6.0)]): No keys
>> found

or probably some other things

And sometimes there's no error, just two consecutive log entries
exactly one minute apart.

I know htat the machine will spend a certain amount of time in I/O
wait when it's grovelling the database, but that tends to be seconds
at a time, and the fact that these all seem to be exactly a minute
sounds like some sort of internal timeout to me. Has anyone else seen
this or have any idea what could be causing it?

        Jonathon
