Thank you for your interest in the project. We don't have any code
written yet, and we're still working out how we want GNU Social to work,
though I imagine we will be in need of testers further down the road.

Most communication is done through this mailing list, though we do have
an IRC channel at #social on freenode. Some information on the project
is available on the GNU Social group wiki page on LibrePlanet:
http://groups.fsf.org/wiki/Group:GNU_Social. You can also check out the
mailing list archives [1] to see what has already been said.

Feel free to jump right in to the discussion!
