That did the trick. It took a lot of other PHP related packaged with it,
which is why I had not tried that earlier. And so, these are *not*
needed either:

 php-net-ldap2, php-db, php-http-request, php-mail-mime, php-net-socket,
 php-auth-sasl, and php-net-smtp
