This adds the usual amount of GDL pain with the GdlDockItems not
getting restored to exactly where they were placed. Maybe we can live
with that. But we definitely need to change some of our
fullscreen/unfullscreen code because saving the layout as XML does not
save the old positions of hidden items.

Will look into this after sometime.
